⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Amarillo del Bosque Verde/Yellow de Viridiangrove
Age: 15
Canon: Pokemon Special
Canon Point: After the Battle Frontier's Pokedex Holder tournament.

Background: Bulbapedia link!

Personality: Yellow’s most defining trait is her kindness, which can be said to be to a fault. She’s kind, and loves all life, to the point where when she battles with her Pokemon, she goes to incredible lengths to make sure her opponent’s Pokemon and her own are not hurt. And it’s shown she would rather have herself hurt than her Pokemon, as she willingly has several of her ribs broken to shield her Pokemon.

Which isn’t to say she’s a pushover, however. Yellow has a very strong sense of justice, and is willing to fight for what’s right, to protect people and to protect nature. She can even be outright ruthless if she has to, as shown in her battle against Lance. That isn’t to say she likes to- Generally, she’ll try any and all alternatives before force, but if she is truly pressed into a corner and many lives other than her own are on the line, she’ll do what needs to be done, even dropping a man into lava.

She’s very brave, willing to rush off into danger to save someone without a second thought. And to protect others, she doesn’t mind being injured herself- She has her own ribs broken to protect her Pokemon. Which isn’t to say she’s fearless, she seems very nervous and anxious about a great many topics. Fighting for fun overwhelms her, leaving her to be defeated without landing a single attack. And certain topics bring up her fears and anxieties towards her hometown, specifically Team Rocket.

While Yellow tends to be quite trusting, especially to her Pokemon, she can be somewhat difficult to get to open up about some topics. Specifically, due to Blue’s instructions, she tends to disguise herself as a boy whenever she doesn’t trust a situation, or whenever she is out heroing, until she can use the fact that she’s a girl to her advantage… Which will be roughly never, since Yellow is incredibly naive. She has an incredible crush on Red, but it still takes her over two years to reveal her gender to him, as she was very nervous about showing her feelings.

That said, most of the time, she is very relaxed. Her special talent is sleeping anywhere, and her main hobbies are fishing (with Pokeballs, so no pokemon are even injured) and drawing (badly).

She’s also known to be incredibly, unfortunately honest. Despite Blue warning her to never give her name out, as soon as the villains asked her, she gave it out, though at least she managed to continue to hide her gender. But this doesn’t apply to every situation- When events in battles call for it, she’s quite capable of strategy, including trickery and misdirection.

Overall, Yellow is a brave, courageous young girl, with a small variety of issues, because everyone in Pokemon Special is at least a little messed up. But she does her best to do the right thing and save everyone, regardless of who or what they do, because life and nature are precious.

Abilities: Yellow was born with the powers of the Viridian Forest, which manifest in several abilities. However, overuse of any of these abilities exhausts her, putting her into a deep sleep. So far, mind-reading is shown to be the least taxing, but even that can tip her over into sleep if things aren’t going well, and this sleep is difficult to resist, no matter the situation- She’s passed out on a crashing airship before.

Healing. While it was originally thought she can only heal Pokemon, recent promotional material has shown her using it on humans as well. Considering how quickly she recovers from broken bones, it’s assumed she can heal herself as well.
Telekinesis. However, her telekinetic powers are also shown to be extremely weak, as the most she can generally manage is moving a Pokeball on a fishing line around.
Mind-reading and empathy. She has thus far only displayed this ability on Pokemon.
When she’s angry, her Pokemon go up in level and become stronger, going from level 20 to the mid-eighties. It’s noted that she is the strongest trainer in the series when this happens… But only when this happens.
She seems to have some sort of empathic link with the Viridian Forest itself, as she can hear when the trees are angry.

Alignment: Sosyne. Yellow is normally calm and kind, but her anger makes her a force so powerful that the strongest trainer in the world fears her.

Other: I’m using Viz translations for most of her Pokemon and her name. The Japanese release lists her name as Yellow de Viridiangrove, while Viz’s translation makes her name Amarillo del Bosque Verde, and Yellow is a nickname. For consistency’s sake, I’m going with the Viz translations, except keeping Blue and Green as their original names (Green’s the boy, Blue is the girl.)

Also, Yellow will be coming in with her full party, as seen in the on hand section.
